Re: Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)

Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).

Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:

The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.

The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. To find out more about these matters, please refer to the Australian Government’s Privacy Policy

A message from the Teaching & Learning Coordinator

Dear Parents/Guardians & Students,

So far, 2020 has truly been a year like no other. We have encountered the challenges of dealing with a global pandemic and managed to also find a way to push along with our day to day lives. We have learnt that teaching and learning has no physical boundary. There is always a way if we have the right attitude and will. Our parents, teachers and students have been amazing in adapting to the new environment of remote teaching and learning. I would like to thank everyone for their contribution in making this transition possible.

Our students have unfortunately encountered some disruptions and uncertainty with their studies with the cancellation of all incursions/excursions, inter-school sports, camps, extracurricular activities, NAPLAN, and the postponement of the GAT and VCE exams. However, considering the disruptions faced, the uncertainty moving forward and the stress this has had on everyone, our College decided to minimise summative assessments for the term as well as cancel all semester one exams for our Year 10 and 11 students.

Our government’s exceptional handling of the pandemic has managed to control the situation as our students have been able to begin re-attending school to continue with their face to face learning. The GAT and VCE exams have been rescheduled and the dates have been set and released by the VCAA. This will no doubt assist in further alleviating the stress and uncertainty on our VCE students.

As we continue to move forward, our hope and prayers are with those that have been seriously affected. Our belief is that if we continue to work together, we will overcome these testing times and come out better, stronger and more united as a school community.

We must remember to stay safe, healthy and continue to practice good hygiene.

Kind Regards,
Tarik Terzi
Teaching and Learning Coordinator
